Essex catering equipment distributor Dawson Design Projects has built and supplied the kitchen behind an ambitious new steak and lobster restaurant chain launching in the UK.
Bourgee, headed up by renowned Great British Master Chef Mark Baumann, will open its first venue in Southend-on-Sea next month.
Harlow-based Dawson Design provided all the kitchen equipment, including a Josper grill, which will form the cornerstone of the restaurant’s grilled menu.
Managing director Reg Dawson worked with the owners to develop a facility that will support their mission of providing beautiful food with impeccable yet unfussy service in sumptuous settings.
The chain aims to capitalise on the popularity of top quality steak and lobster among restaurant-goers and the draw of a smaller menu with large appeal.
Other venues are already in development with a view to opening in 2015, but with an investment of £1m the Bourgee on Southend’s famous seafront will remain its flagship Steak-Lobster-Luxe Lounge.
In a statement confirming the launch, co-owners James Welling and Mark Baumann said they were thrilled to finally see their vision of the Bourgee concept launch in the UK.
“We are confident that our innovative menus, sumptuous and vibrant destinations coupled with our sensible pricing strategy will strike a chord with diners across the country and prove that there is no reason why superb product, service and venues should not be available to everyone,” they stated.
The pair said Southend was picked as the chain’s first site due to the huge amount of footfall, regeneration, investment and growth taking place in the Essex town.
Dawson Design Projects was established in 2009 and has carried out schemes throughout the UK. Its team boasts extensive experience of kitchen design, supply, installation and project management.
