Suppliers of equipment to Domino’s Pizza can expect their kit to get a real hammering this summer as the nation prepares to be gripped by World Cup foot ball fever.
Domino’s revealed today that it plans to deliver a staggering 56 million slices of pizza to hungry football fans across the UK during the four-week tournament.
Its ovens will churn out nearly six million pizzas during June and July, enough to stretch from London to Rio de Janeiro and back again.
With 64 games being broadcast live between 5pm and 11pm, Domino’s predicts a “huge peak” in orders that will see delivery teams from its 830 UK stores travelling a massive 13.5 million miles in total.
The company currently doesn’t have enough manpower to handle the anticipated uptake in orders, so it is currently on the hunt for 1,300 new delivery drivers.
Domino’s bosses also revealed they would be ordering enough mozzarella cheese to fill an Olympic size swimming pool and more than 40 million slices of pepperoni for the World Cup.
