Swift Catering Equipment is one of the few kitchen houses to be exhibiting at Hotelympia this week.
Although the catering equipment part of the show is dominated by manufacturers, the Basildon-based distributor decided to take stand space to spread awareness of the services it offers.
The main motivation behind that is the growth of the company’s manufacturing and fabrication arm following investment in new machinery and factory space over the past 12 months.
“The manufacturing and fabrication side has really started to take off, so this is an opportunity to raise the profile of the company and be seen by people from outside Essex, which is where we are best known,” explained sales manager, Gary Allen.
Swift’s fabrication activities are heavily focused around foodservice counters and canopies.
Allen says the firm has picked up a good number of leads in the three days it has been exhibiting.
“We’ve made some good contacts with national accounts and we have also seen interest from other kitchen houses,” he said.
“A lot of them have specialist fabricators already but might need another one or two more to give their customers a good service. Most certainly want a fabricator in and around the London area, and we believe we can provide that local service for projects in the south.”
