Catering equipment distributors could be in for a bumper payday with the news that Basildon Hospital in Essex is undertaking a £2.7m revamp of its entrance.
The development will involve opening cafe and shop outlets over the next 2 years to create a ‘retail environment’.
Similar changes were made at nearby Southend Hospital 4 years ago, when branches of Costa Coffee and WH Smith took up residence.
A trust spokesperson told local newspaper, the Halstead Gazette, that the investment would be an important boost for staff, patients and visitors. “These proposed outline schemes are part of the trust’s long-term investment strategy to improve the experience for everyone.”
