Engineer Alan Hunter is celebrating 30 years of service with Catering Supplies & Repairs (CSR), based in Larbert, Scotland.
He began working at the firm on 8 August 1987 as an apprentice straight out of school. Completing his apprenticeship in 1990, which enabled him to be a fully qualified gas engineer, he has worked in premises all over Scotland including schools, prisons, hotels and government establishments.
He has completed various training courses which gained him certification in all aspects of gas installation/repairs, LPG commercial equipment, gas safe, manual handling, safe isolation, Rational and Electrolux training and holds a very valued CEDA card.
CSR values Hunter as a member of the team, with service manager Jacqueline Elliott commenting: “He is always on hand to help with knowledge and advice to other engineers and office staff. His past experience is helpful to current CSR apprentices who look up to Alan for guidance in their own career path.”
“CSR just wouldn’t be the same without Alan, we look forward to him working us for many more years.”
Hunter was jokingly known as HHH by past engineers but to this day will not divulge what this stands for.
A family man, he has been married to Sandra for 21 years and has a son Jamie (19), who has followed his dad’s footsteps into the engineering trade, and more recently the newest member of his family is their pride and joy, Murray, a 9 week old cocker spaniel.
He loves to play golf at Tryst Golf Club and is vice president of the Stirlingshire Golf Union. He also does volunteer work for the Round Table.
