Coverpoint Foodservice Consultants has begun 2015 under new ownership after it was recently acquired by New York-listed Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL).
The deal, which was finalised last month, will see the specialist foodservice management consultancy become part of JLL’s European Retail & Leisure consulting team.
Founded by managing director and current FCSI worldwide president, Jonathan Doughty, Coverpoint advises on all aspects of the food and beverage offer including commercial and operational performance analysis, benchmarking, standards monitoring and due diligence.
Doughty said that becoming part of a much larger global group would have positive implications for the business: “Joining JLL will broaden our capacity, client base and will enable us to bring our collective global foodservice insights to the fore.”
The Coverpoint team is now reporting to James Brown, head of EMEA Retail & Leisure Research & Consulting, and has relocated from Reading to JLL’s Heathrow office. Doughty takes on the designation of head of EMEA Foodservice Consulting for the business.
At any one time, JLL has around 30 European retail advisers working on food and beverage projects.
Brown said Coverpoint had an “impressive and unparalleled” track-record across the global foodservice industry, from retail real estate investors to restaurateurs and corporate occupiers.
“Bringing Coverpoint into JLL will help us meet the growing client demand for this type of consulting service,” he added.
