A chip shop in Burnley is on the market for just £9,000, complete with all its working commercial kitchen equipment.
Brunshaw Fish and Chips is looking to attract a buyer as soon as possible and said all stock, including catering equipment, is included in the asking price.
Kit in the establishment includes a counter and chip range, small fryer, four ring bain marie, refrigeration units, steamer, hot beverage machines, freezer, microwave and a five hob gas cooker.
Experts said the £9,000 sale value was between five and 10 times the price that the average chip shop is sold for.
The business was first touted for sale in February for £16,500 as a going concern after a family member of the owners was diagnosed with a terminal illness and it became difficult to dedicate time to the operation.
As the family are no longer in a position to run the business, they hope that slashing the asking price will attract a buyer. The owners said the business turned over between £500 and £800 a week before they shut it.
The National Fish Friers Federation said the asking price was an ‘absolute bargain’, adding that its true value was at least £16,000.
The property is on the market with Nelson-based estate agent Empire Estates, which said: “This is a fantastic investment opportunity to purchase an up and running fish and chip shop in a prominent location of Burnley.”
