Chiller Box founder Marios Poumpouris came up trumps at the Institute of Directors Awards in London last night.
Poumpouris was named ‘Director of the Year’ in the category for London and South East businesses with a turnover of up to £5m a year.
An elated Poumpouris said this morning: “To be recognised by a prestigious body such as the IoD for all the hard work the team and I have put in, particularly in the last few difficult years, is a truly great milestone in Chiller Box’s history.”
He said the accolade “added fuel to the fire already in our bellies” and would give it the drive to build on its market successes so far.
Poumpouris beat off competition from more than 250 entrants to make it to the finals of the competition.
He was shortlisted alongside John Rosling of business coaching firm Shirlaws and Sonja Wood of Ecosan Services, a supplier of eco-friendly corporate washroom solutions.
Poumpouris and his business partner founded Chiller Box eight years ago to install commercial kitchens for restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, hotels and schools across the UK. It supplies catering equipment and refrigeration, as well as air conditioning systems.
The company is a member of CEDA and Cedabond. Last year Poumpouris became the first UK distributor to join the FCSI board, after being awarded the position of Allied Distributor Members Representative.
