Bradford-based homeless charity, Inn Churches, is calling for catering equipment including walk-in fridges, an industrial sink and a gas cooker for its new Storehouse initiative.
Part of the project involves hiring a central warehouse which will store bulk food from supermarkets. Some of the food will be distributed to a ‘pay as you feel’ cafe the charity is establishing in central Bradford in association with the Real Junk Food project and the Yorkshire-based Saltaire Canteen. The cafe will be operational two days a week from 18 August.
The rest of the produce will be divided up to send to local food banks and supply a mobile food market Inn Churches is setting up in a converted single-decker bus.
The 6,000ft2 warehouse is being provided to the charity by the landlord rent-free for the first year.
