Catering Insight is delighted to announce that it will host a major celebration for the commercial catering equipment industry in October this year: the Catering Insight Hot 100.
The Hot 100, which will be unveiled as the centrepiece of a spectacular party on October 9, is a roll of honour for the people that have made the greatest contribution to the industry over the previous 12 months.
The Hot 100 is more than just a dazzling party. It is also a publication where we create memorable portraits of every person selected for the list. This glossy book, which features stunning photographs of Hot 100 people created by professional fashion and lifestyle photographers, becomes the yearbook for the industry.
“Over and over again since we launched Catering Insight and Cateringinsight.com, we have come across individuals and teams that have stories of exceptional performance, innovation and achievement. These are the personal stories that we bring to life with our unique picture profiles – capturing the essence of the people that make up this vibrant industry,” explains Andrew Seymour, editor of Catering Insight.
“In an industry that obsesses about the latest hardware and technical innovation, we shine a light on the people that make it tick. Everybody in the Hot 100 will be selected for their contribution that will be over-and-above the normal call of duty,” adds Seymour.
The Hot 100 concept was originally created by ITP, the Dubai-based parent company of Catering Insight’s UK publisher. In Dubai, the company is responsible for some of the world’s most glamorous titles including Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and Cosmopolitan.
“While I worked for ITP in Dubai, it became obvious to me that there was nothing different about the hopes, aspirations and achievements of the fashionistas who attended parties for our glossy magazines to those who excelled in supposedly more mundane businesses like catering and hospitality,” recalls Seymour. “Everybody I spoke to in business had hugely engaging personal stories to tell about their successes, their ideas and their challenges.”
The Hot 100 party, which began life as a society event, was bought to the UK and transformed into a business event, initially with Catering Insight’s stable mate, Professional Jeweller, and became an instant smash hit.
“We found that a Hot 100 party for a business audience worked even better than it does for a society crowd, because the party doubles up as a celebration and an exceptional networking event,” describes Rob Corder, Editorial Director for ITP. “Moreover, the stories of business professionals in the Hot 100 book are far more interesting. Everybody wants to read stories about the successes of their peers and competitors, and everybody marvels at the way professional photographers can capture incredible pictures of everybody in the book.”
The Catering Insight Hot 100 will be dramatically different from traditional awards ceremonies. The most fashionable venue in London today, One Mayfair, will play host to the party. This 18th century deconsecrated church has witnessed myriad catwalk shows during London Fashion Weeks, and is a perfect backdrop to a party that celebrates the achievements of people from every part of the equipment industry.
The highlight of the party is the ‘Reveal’ of the Hot 100, when all of the personal portraits, which have been kept entirely secret until this point, are splashed onto a big screen.
The Hot 100 list is selected by the editor of Catering Insight, but the magazine will also canvass opinions via a nomination process that invites all readers to suggest stars from within their own companies, their suppliers or their customers.
Unlike many traditional ceremonies, the Hot 100 aims to celebrate a raft of fresh faces that rarely receive recognition outside their organisations. An emerging marketing team, a husband and wife that built a small business from scratch; a customer care executive that never lets a problem lie; a designer who turns kitchens into art forms – these are the rarely recognised heroes that will be honoured alongside the enduring big shots of the catering industry.
A nomination process will be launched next week that will allow all Cateringinsight.com readers to have their say on stars in five categories:
• Industry Innovators – Innovation comes in many forms, technological advancement, internal process reengineering, sales and marketing wizardry. This category of the Hot 100 recognises the industry’s most creative thinkers.
• Business Big Shots – The industry leaders from all sectors of the foodservice sector that are generating the greatest revenues and profits.
• Unsung Heroes – Behind every Business Big Shot are legions of workers that keep the industry thriving. You’ll find them in the marketing department, finance office, on site installing equipment or on the road driving sales.
• Rising Stars – The Hot 100 gives companies the opportunity to recognise the future generation of business leaders that are delivering results beyond those expected of the youngest executives.
• Winning Teams – Family partnerships, departmental groups and project teams are all singled out for recognition.
Our editorial team will then select the Hot 100 members, who will be contacted to arrange their professional photo shoots.
The guest list for the Hot 100 party is strictly invitation only. Catering Insight will invite everybody in the Hot 100, and our commercial partners will also be able to invite their colleagues, customers and suppliers.
“These are red hot tickets,” warns Cara Turner, Event Director for the Hot 100. “There are only two ways to guarantee entry: make sure you get nominated and accepted into the Hot 100 list, or join us as a commercial partner.”
There are only a limited number of Partnership packages available, along with the unmissable chance to advertise in the Hot 100 yearbook. “Our Partners become associated with the most uplifting, glamorous and simply enjoyable event of the year. This is not an opportunity that anybody will want to miss,” predicts Turner.
