The system uses only small amounts of water at high pressure with water droplets within a range of 60-100 microns to quickly and effectively suppress and control the fire, meaning kitchens can be up and running again within minutes of the system being deployed. The Hydramist 15AMPU kitchen fire suppression system, which is distributed in the UK by Fireworks Fire Protection, has achieved approval by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) to LPS1223 standard.

S&S has taken a contemporary approach to keeping commercial kitchens safe with gas interlock systems that feature easy-to-use touch button panel controls, replacing the key system previously used to turn gas, water and electricity on and off. The new design allows enhanced control over the gas supply to the kitchen, thereby ensuring the health and safety of staff. Touch button control is now available on the Merlin 2000 and Merlin 2500 systems for catering establishments, as well as its comparative models for laboratories. The new models perform exactly the same functions as before, but the touch button controls are more user-friendly and ensure that losing a key for the panel is no longer a concern.
