Burco has emerged as the overall winner in the equipment category of the Hotelympia Innovation Awards, beating off more than 80 entrants to be crowned this year’s equipment king.
The manufacturer was one of six equipment finalists that this week presented their shortlisted product to a panel of expert judges and its Synergy Grill impressed the most.
The grill features ‘atomising combustion technology’ which means it vaporises escaping fats into a fine mist and coats the food to ensure it cooks in its own juices – retaining moisture and flavour.
Jon Usher, marketing manager of Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances, which owns the Burco brand, told Catering Insight that the product offers an energy efficient alternative to traditional chargrills.
“We are delighted to have won this award and it is great that the innovation we have been bringing to this sector is being recognised and rewarded,” he said. “It is a really interesting product which is fantastic for establishments that not only want to offer great tasting food but are looking after the pennies from an energy efficiency perspective. We are looking forward to seeing a lot more Synergy grills out in the marketplace.”
Burco’s recommended list price for the product is £1,799 but it has slashed the price to £999 for this week only.
The equipment category was judged by a panel of six industry experts, including FCSI chairman David Bentley and Pollen Street Social owner Jason Atherton.
The other finalists in the category were Adande, Control Induction, Iglu Cold Systems, Hobart and Rational.
