Bunzl Lockhart Catering Equipment this week announced a multimillion boost for its UK division after securing major contracts with Pret A Manger and the Ministry of Defence.
Together the contracts are worth a total of £14m.
The company will supply a range of light catering equipment and bespoke lines to all 270 Pret A Manger sites in the UK and remains in talks to service sites in Europe as well.
Lockhart snatched the contract from the incumbent supplier after demonstrating it could reduce Pret’s overall light equipment spend without impacting on their exemplary service levels, it said.
“We are very proud to have secured such a renowned brand as Pret A Manger, which we won because of our exceptionally high levels of operational efficiency, a sound infrastructure system and commitment to product innovation,” said Paul Nieduszynski, managing director of Bunzl Lockhart Catering Equipment.
The deal with the MOD, meanwhile, came after a two-way pitch with sister company Bunzl Catering Supplies.
It retained the contract to supply light catering equipment and non-food consumables to more than 600 military bases in the UK and worldwide. The brief demanded that the businesses outline how it would maintain the high levels of service and expertise already achieved to-date on the contract.
“By taking an integrated approach to the Ministry of Defence pitch with Bunzl Catering Supplies, we were able to deliver a unified strategic approach to the brief to win the business,” said Nieduszynski.
