BREAKING NEWS: JLA buys out DC Products

JLA is the new owner of catering equipment manufacturer, DC Products.

The JLA Group has acquired Somerset-based catering equipment manufacturer DC (Direct Catering) Products.

This marks the first time the servicing specialist has bought out a manufacturer, following the purchase of seven dealers within an 18 month period across 2013-2015. These were: Carford, Red Squared, CKM, Proton Washrite, Harmony Business & Technology, Comcat Engineering, and Newco Catering Equipment.

The group believes this latest acquisition further strengthens its fast-growing catering division.

Post-acquisition, DC Products will continue to be run independently by MD Bob Wood, who has successfully led the business after assuming responsibility from the original founders of DC. All of DC’s business processes, points of contacts, products and services are remaining the same.

Stephen Baxter, JLA Group CEO commented: “We are delighted to have Bob and his team join the JLA Group. Bob has done a tremendous job in growing DC Products into the business it is today, with a great track record of service to its growing customer base, and we are really looking forward to continuing this together in the future.”

Bob Wood, MD of DC, added: “Joining the JLA Group marks the start of a really exciting period for DC Products.

“The investment and support from JLA will allow us to accelerate our ambitious growth plans and, most importantly, deliver even better products and service to all of our customers.”

Interesting. JLA’s current Proton South business and DC Products both buy their “badged” D/W’s from the same Italian manufacture, Silanos of Italy. This should give JLA a little more purchasing power.
Well done to Bob Wood and the team in securing the investment and support of industry giant JLA

it was almost exactly 4 years ago that CI quoted Carford as saying:

The Carford Group name will not disappear because that is what JLA has bought; they have bought the name, the brand and what it stands for. We are not looking to change what we do or what we offer, but obviously there are much greater opportunities for us as a group because of the combined resources. As far as the staff are concerned, it is all growth, growth, growth, as well as the opportunity and stability that this brings.”

lets hope DC Products still have their name 4 years on

That does, unfortunately, put a very big question mark over whether we will continue to offer the DC range in 2018.

This purchase was concluded 3 weeks ago, I wonder why DC and JLA kept it so quiet and never told their distributors or even Catering Insight at the recent awards night where DC were a sponsor!

DC and ALL the staff will go the same way as  Carford, Red Squared, CKM, Proton Washrite, Harmony Business & Technology, Comcat Engineering, and Newco Catering Equipment.anyone who thinks different is on a different planet.

I enjoyed working for DC & building the profile and sales of the products. It was such a friendly caring family company. I hope JLA acquisition won’t spoil that feel for the dedicated staff who have worked so hard for the company.
