Distributor, Direct Catering Solutions, is being wound up.

Catering equipment dealer Direct Catering Solutions has been wound up voluntarily by its MD, David McClean.

The firm was in its infancy, as it was only incorporated in February last year. With a registered address in Cheltenham, the dealer’s principal trading premises was recorded as being in Alcester, Warwickshire.

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily.”

Alisdair J Findlay, of Findlay James in Cheltenham was appointed as liquidator to close the firm.

Direct’s McClean told Catering Insight: “I wound the company up as we were set up to sell quality used equipment but the market has been flooded by cheap new appliances.

“This meant that it was not a viable business.”

Prior to this, he also ran a dealership called Cookco Nottingham between 2016 and 2017, while he is also recorded as being general manager of a Cheltenham-based catering equipment dealer called Empire Catering Equipment from 2011.

McClean has now moved on to start a new venture, WeBuyAnyAssets.com, as he explained: “We buy the assets of any company that has gone into liquidation as long as there is a profit in it. So far we have been called on to empty premises such as a furniture warehouse and the contents of an American diner.

“It’s a much simpler way of doing business.”
