Bradshaw clarifies microwave liner details

Microwave supplier Bradshaw has countered the issues raised by competitor Regale following the launch of Bradshaw’s Easi-Clene cavity liner in July.

Up until last month, Regale had been the only manufacturer of microwave cavity liners in the UK, with its Microsave product.

Regale’s MD, Patrick Bray, felt that some details in Bradshaw’s product launch press release referred to his company’s product. However, Bradshaw’s sales manager, John Marks, wrote to Catering Insight, saying: “Whilst we cannot control what Mr Bray thinks about our article, it was not aimed at his cavity protection system. As he rightly says he does not use food safe plastics in his products; our article touched on why we did not go down that route as this approach would not have been suitable for our heavy duty units.

“Pat said manufacturers, such as Panasonic, Sharp, Merrychef, Daewoo etc, all produce very heavy duty microwave ovens and that Menumaster does not seem to be any better than these. Menumaster, manufactured by ACP Inc, has a 50 year legacy in the microwave business and ACP, Inc. has been repeatedly recognised as ‘Best in Class’ for commercial microwaves year after year – the results of a survey of foodservice operators conducted by Restaurant Business and Foodservice Director Magazines.”

The Menumaster range covers units from 1,000W light duty units to 3,500W gastronorm size units. The Easi-Clene liner is available for the Menumaster RCS 1,100W range, the RFS 1,800W units and the DEC 1,400W, 1,800W and 2,100W units.

Marks added: “Regale’s cavity protection system seems to only to be available for the 1,400W and 1,800W Panasonic units, 1,500W and 1,850W Daewoo units, and the 1,500W and 1,900W Sharp units. But our Easi-Clene is not only available for the Menumaster units; we could also manufacture our liners for any make of commercial microwave on the market.

“At no point did we compare our research of food safe plastics to the Regale cavity protection system and if anything our article gave Pat the opportunity to confirm that he does not use food safe plastics in the manufacture of his system. With regards the cleaning of our Easi-Clene liner, it can be removed, cleaned and re-inserted in under a minute.”
