Ascentia replaces oil with air in new fryer

The Hop air fryer features two patented technologies.

Ascentia Foodservice Equipment is launching Hop, a professional ‘air fryer’ that is claimed to eliminate oil from the frying process.

The unit requires no extraction as it has a patented built-in condensation system that is designed to deal with any vapours and smells.

Furthermore, another patented technology is a rotating basket and loading system, which is claimed to provide a safe working environment, enable a variety of recipes and eliminate the danger of hot oil burns.

The Hop is said to deliver a cleaner, healthier product without any contamination of flavour from oils, cutting the calories from fried food by up to 50%.

With a digital display designed to be clear and easy to use, the loading system is also reportedly simple to operate.

Ascentia development chef Scott Park said: “We know there have been a couple other machines on the market that have done a similar thing but to date they’ve tended to be heavy on power, a bit cumbersome and very expensive. We believe the Hop will offer customers a much more competitively priced and more versatile alternative.

“We think the Hop will be very popular in situations where extraction is an issue such as cinemas, petrol stations, entertainment venues and shopping centres as well as any establishment that wants to offer a much healthier alternative to traditionally oil fried products.”
