When Ascentia Foodservice Equipment announced itself to the market a year ago, the supplier made waves thanks to its portfolio of major name Italian and Spanish brands.
These include Berto’s, Piron, Moretti Forni, Pavesi Forni, Mibrasa, Frigomeccanica and Dalmec Refrigeration. Its aim is to provide practically every aspect of equipment required in a commercial kitchen through a dealer network.
The firm has built up its distribution network by initially looking at geographical spread.
“We wanted to select the right people that were going to promote the right products,” said Neil Mantle, Ascentia’s business development manager.
“Most of our products require some elements of design and installation, so we needed well-established dealers that we could develop a relationship with.”
The supplier has aimed to kick-start many dealer relationships through exhibiting at trade shows and presenting its range of brands to them, with Mantle reporting that Commercial Kitchen was particularly useful for meeting dealers.
“Where we’ve had enquiries direct from end users, we have further strengthened our relationships with dealers, as we have passed those enquiries onto them,” detailed Mantle. “We are not interested in direct supply at all.”
So far, Ascentia has signed up a network of around 15 dealers and is keen to develop that further “when the time is right”, according to Mantle.
