Abraxas salesman takes on London triathlon for charity

Abraxas Catering Equipment’s sales co-ordinator Tom Wraight has entered this year’s London Triathlon and will be competing in the Olympic Plus race.

On Sunday 9 August he will be swimming 1.5km, cycling 80km and running 10km around the ExCel Centre in east London. He is hoping to finish the course in under 5 hours.

Wraight will be attempting to raise £1,000 for the Stroke Association and colleagues at the Kidderminster-based distributor have already contributed to the current £640 total.

He told Catering Insight: “My granddad had a stroke last year which left him bedbound and unable to speak. He was an active guy and so am I – I’ve always been into running, biking and swimming but never done a triathlon before only ever 10K races and a half marathon.

“I thought what better way to raise money for a charity which has not just helped my granddad by regaining some independence but also helped the whole family with the amount of information and resources they offer by doing something challenging, active, but also something he’d probably have a crack at his age and if he was able bodied.”
