The Catering Insight Awards is launching a brand new category this year, thanks to the support of CESA.
The new supplier Training & Education award will be aimed at those manufacturers who have invested extensively in education programmes for the benefit of the industry. This could be for their own staff, dealers or the wider sector.
This will be one of now 15 accolades presented during the gala ceremony on Wednesday 30 November at The Underglobe, in the very heart of Central London.
CESA chair, Simon Frost, commented: “The Training Award is in line with CESA’s strategy to recognise, promote and applaud developments in training and education.
“As a provider of training services ourselves, through the CFSP programme, the Award is directly relevant to our plans over the coming years.
“We are continuing to develop CFSP, not only in the UK, where we have over 400 accredited professionals, but also as part of a global initiative.”
CESA decided to join forces with the Catering Insight Awards as: “They have a high profile in the catering equipment industry,” according to Frost.
“As a celebration of the successes and challenges we face, they give a unique platform for us to promote the importance of training throughout the industry.”
He is hoping that the new category will achieve “Greater recognition of the value of training and the return on investment that it brings to a business”.
He added: “Every organisation should have a training and development strategy, to develop their business, and every professional should have one for their personal goals.
“Training success is vital to the development of people in our industry, at all levels, and to the development and success of the industry itself.
“On the one hand, we face massive skill shortages – it’s only through training and education that we can meet this challenge.
“At the same time, professional training programmes create a clear career path in our industry, enhancing our ability to attract and hold onto good people.”
Frost was a big fan of last year’s inaugural Catering Insight Awards, saying: “It’s a fantastic platform for the supply chain and a brilliant way to recognise our industry’s best performers.
“We need to celebrate the innovations that our manufacturers, suppliers, designers and distributors create – they are vital if we are to serve the needs of foodservice operators more effectively.
“Just as important is the bringing together of the whole supply chain, reflecting the fact that we work most successfully when we work together.”
